Wayne Wetherall

Wayne and Michelle Wetherall run our Australian office and operation.

Wayne is passionate about people and the culture of the people in the areas we visit. He has developed a successful trekking operation in many countries after initiating a rafting and trekking business in the remote areas of Papua New Guinea. Wayne has been exploring PNG since 2002 and has been instrumental in some of the great discoveries along the famous Kokoda Track.  He has also written a number of stories on the history and his experiences in Papua New Guinea.

He has established strong bonds with local villagers, setting up trusts to supply much needed supplies of Schoolbooks and equipment. He has initiated this same sense of responsibility in our other Wild Spirit venues.

Wayne’s expertise in Business, IT and Tourism provides the professional support and infrastructure to our teams in the countries we operate. Wayne has always been exploring and has an intimate knowledge and passion for the Australian war history His enthusiasm and knowledge will give you an insight into the culture and customs of our Wild Spirit destinations.

Wayne has successfully led exploration treks and tours into Papua New Guinea, Vietnam, Thailand, Borneo China, Germany, Italy and France. Wayne has assisted in opening up the Sandakan track for Tourism in Borneo and Long Tan in Vietnam. Wayne has also successfully climbed Mt Wilhelm in PNG and Mt Kinabalu in Borneo twice including the World’s highest “ Via Ferrata”.

Prem Khatri and Kathy Serra

Prem Khatri brings over 13 years of experience to our Nepal team.Prem Khatri comes from remote Gurkha region of the Manaslu area and he has travelled extensively throughout Nepal. Prem has been successfully leading, guiding and extensive range of clientele from all corners of the globe into the Himalayan expanse for over 13 years. With his professional approach, vast knowledge and boundless enthusiasm combined with many years experience on the trekking field, Prem is a true leader in the Nepalese tourism.

His expert local team leaders have all been carefully selected for their specialised skills and wealth of local knowledge along with vital community networks, ensuring you receive quality service. He believes travelling through the Himalaya’s is something that everybody should experience at least once in a lifetime you will witness the Himalayan people, their customs and traditions, you will feel a sense of comfort as you become part of our family. It will leave you with many inspirational and treasured memories.

Kathy Serra is part of our Nepal team.Proudly Kathleen joined Prem’s team a number of years ago and has since recently spent 12 months working, living and trekking throughout the Everest, Annapurna and Mansula Regions of Nepal. With immense knowledge and networks Kathleen is dedicated to providing expert guidance this allows her to focus on every detail of your journey ensuring minimal impact on the environment, local people and customs. Behind the scenes she is committed to adventure tourism whilst generating a fairer income for the local community of Nepal. She has an overwhelming understanding and passion for the local people, trekking, culture and the spectacular holy mountains. Originally Kathleen is from Victoria; with a background in business management, marketing, sales, administration and finance. Kathleen believes if you like to explore, Nepal is one of the most inspiring places in the world. Wild Spirit are very excited to be working hand in hand with Prem, Kathy and their team, we are certain that you too, will be rewarded from this great relationship.
