About Vietnam

Vietnam has over 3,450 kms of coastline, pristine sandy beaches, awe inspiring Mountain ranges and a vast array of cultural diversity.

From the industrious Ho Chi Min City to the lay back lifestyle on the floating markets of the Mekong Delta, Vietnam will stimulate your senses every way you turn. Add to this picturesque central Vietnam, and Ha Long Bay in the North, this fascinating country will provide the Wild Spirit traveller with an amazing journey which is continually enhanced by the friendliness of the local people.

Vietnam has over 80 million people with more than 50 ethnic groups. The official language is Vietnamese but many people speak French, Chinese, English and Russian. The religious groups include Buddhism, Christianity, Caodaism, Muslim and Taoists.

The landscape is varied with the North offering breathtaking scenery in the Sapa highlands and spectacular seascapes in the Ha Long Bay area. In the center is the world heritage sites of Hoi An and Hue, and in the South the green fields of the fertile Mekong Delta. Water buffalos, rice fields, colourful markets, pushbikes, scooters, women dressed in the traditional Ao Dai and much, much more makes Vietnam a special place for any traveller.

Hanoi, built in the seventh century, is the capital of Vietnam. The fascinating streets of the old French Quarter provide wonderful eating places and magnificent architecture. Hanoi also houses the mausoleum of Vietnam’s most revered former leader, Ho Chi Minh.

The Vietnamese people have embraced the past and look forward to the future; it is a young country with over 65% of its inhabitants being under the age of 30. Wild Spirit will provide you with a journey that will encapsulate the Vietnam experience and provide you with everlasting memories.

Vietnam Cu Chi Tunnels

We travel to the Mekong delta and cruise leisurely through the many interconnecting canals. We experience the rural lifestyle of these amazing people whilst visiting the
Floating markets and tasting the local seasonal fruits. This is a great way to experience river life and provides an opportunity to witness the local people in their day to day life as fishermen, traders and farmers.

Floating market of Cần Thơ, Mekong Delta, Vietnam.

We board a high speed ferry which will take us to Vung Tau, a beautiful coastal village and the headquarters of the Australian contingent during the Vietnam War. Vung Tau, a well known sea-side town used by the Australian task force as a retreat from the pressures of war, is now a bustling city offering a variety of restaurants, eating houses, markets and beaches, giving you the opportunity to explore and relax as you desire.

After our stay in the south, we take a domestic flight to Danang and visit the historical township of Hoi An. A shopping mecca for those inclined; otherwise a beautiful coastal village that offers white sandy beaches in an idyllic setting. There is ample time here to wander through narrow laneways full of stalls and markets.

The group then boards a domestic flight to Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam and a city full of culture. We spend some time taking a tour through the city highlights before taking a bus to board our boat at Ha Long Bay.

Ha Long Bay

Ha Long Bay Vietnam

Ha Long bay is a UNESCO World heritage site and features thousands of limestone karsts and isles. We have the opportunity here to hire a kayak and paddle through this amazing environment or just lay back on a deck chair and it take it all in from our floating accommodation.

The group then takes our bus back to Hanoi to board our flight back home. Many people decide to stay on and take one of the many options that Wild Spirit Adventures can facilitate. This may include a side trip to Sapa for trekking, a visit Angkor Wat in Cambodia or maybe a cycle tour through central Vietnam.
