Price Includes

Tour guide, ground support crew and all transportation. Camping equipment and bedding including swags, pillows, sleeping bags and blankets. Meals and snacks as indicated on below. Hot and cold drinks excluding alcoholic beverages (note that the purchase of alcohol can be arranged with your guide at the pre-trek meeting. Cold storage will be provided), fresh drinking water.

Overnight Vibe Hotel Harbourside

Day 1

Darwin to Jabiru.

Today we depart our Darwin Hotel at 6.30am and begin our challenge.

6am early morning breakfast at Hotel

We drive from Darwin for 3 hours to the Kakadu Highway near to begin our journey. We check our bikes have morning tea to fuel our bodies and commence our ride, and you will soon question your sanity in taking on this challenge.

We will provide plenty of fluids, rest stops and snacks along the way.

Tonight, we are into our camp, with tents and a campfire to sit around and chat about the days ride. Dinner is provided by our camp cooks. Special welcome by Mark Hughes.

Overnight Jabiru camp site.  85km ride. 5.5 hours Kakadu Highway

Day 2

Darwin To Jabiru – Continued

Today after an early morning hearty breakfast we commence our ride out to the Arnhem Land escarpment at the Aboriginal Rock Art site of Ubirr around 7am.

Today’s ride is both challenging and spectacular. We will stop along the way for fluid and snacks.

At Ubirr we climb up the escarpment to view the magnificent rock art and spectacular views over Arnhem Land.

We return on our bikes to camp via Cahills crossing with the real possibility of getting up close and personal with the big Crocs of the East Alligator River. Tonight, we are into our camp, with tents and campfire to sit around and chat about the days ride. Dinner is provided by our camp cooks. Presentation and guest speakers. MC is Stephen Crowe.

Overnight Jabiru camp site.  90km ride 4km hike. 6 hours

Day 3

Jabiru to Cooinda

5am early start sees us ride 37km and a 4km trek to Nourlangie Rock and the Arnhem Land escarpment. 3.5 hours.

From the escarpment we continue our ride across hot, humid and undulating terrain to Cooinda for 46km which is about 4.5hours, Cooinda is surrounded by the spectacular Kakadu landscape and located close to Yellow Water (Ngurrungurrudjba) Billabong where you’ll see the unique wildlife that makes this region so special.

This afternoon the team has a series of challenges to achieve before retiring to camp.

Tonight, we are into our camp, with tents and campfire to sit around and chat about the days ride. Dinner is provided by our camp cooks. Presentation/team challenge and guest speakers MC is Stephen Crowe.

Overnight Cooinda camp site. 83km ride 8 hours

Day 4

Early morning Yellow River cruise.

5am early start today as we cruise Yellow Water wetlands for around 2 hours to get up close with the big Crocs before returning to camp for breakfast.

10am late breakfast we commence our 25km/1.5 hour ride out towards Jim Jim and Twin falls before taking on the big challenge and hiking/scrambling a rugged and challenging 4 hours/17kms over boulders and rock formations to the rock pools and cliffs above the waterfalls. We then ride back 1.5 hours to camp site. Dinner is provided by our camp cooks. Presentation and guest speakers MC is Stephen Crowe.

Day 5

Katherine Gorge, Edith Falls hike and paddle.

Today we have left the most challenging part of the adventure to last… We leave camp early around 6am and ride towards Maguk/Barramundi Falls. From Maguk Falls we will drive to Edith falls where we will trek parts of the Jatbula Trail.  From Edith Falls we drive to Katherine arriving around 12midday, we will have lunch, then we will suit up and paddle through the majestic Katherine Gorge. We will undertake paddling two sections of the Gorge that will have us carrying our Kayaks across 500m of rocks between sections. The paddle through the Gorge is both challenging and mesmerising with its beauty.

Overnight Katherine Camping grounds. 63km ride Hike 4kms Paddle 8km

Day 6

Katherine To Darwin

Today we depart Katherine at 8am and commence our Journey back to Darwin by vehicle.

On the way we will pay our respects at the Commonwealth War Graves at Adelaide River before visiting Litchfield National Park for lunch around 11.30am to hike and swim at Florence Falls. Drive back to Darwin getting to the Hotel around 3pm.

This evening at 5pm we will celebrate with a dinner and drinks sunset cruise on Darwin Harbour.

Then into Darwin town to continue the celebration.

What to Bring

Headlight or torch, wide brimmed hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, fly net, water bottles (min. recommended capacity 3-4 litres total), walking shoes/boots, warm clothing, personal items such as toiletries and medications and towel. BYO alcohol (see note under inclusions).

Please note temperature variation is great in Central Australia. You will be required to carry all clothing required for that day and should plan accordingly. Temperature variations ranging from 0 – 30 degrees Celsius can be experienced each day.

All other clothing and luggage will be transported by the ground crew. Any items not needed for the trek can be stored at your accommodation in Alice Springs.

Travelling with Children

Due to the nature of this tour, the minimum age accepted for children is 12 years. Private Charters can be arranged by request and tailored for children’s needs accordingly.

Arrival in Alice Springs

Many hotels provide courtesy buses that meet most flights. To take advantage of this, you must call the hotel at least 24 hours before your arrival and provide your flight details and arrival time. Otherwise a taxi will cost approximately AUD$30. The airport shuttle costs AUD$15 per person and meets every flight, and will also take you directly to your hotel.

Outback Camping in Style

We like to camp in style and comfort which involves sleeping in enclosed swags or in large, wilderness style tents. A mattress, pillow, -5CC rated sleeping bags, sheets, woollen blankets are provided. A hands free headlight/torch is thoroughly recommended for after dark activities. Please note you will be required to carry your own day pack on this walk. All other equipment will be handled by our ground crew.

Respecting Indigenous Culture

Please note that itineraries that include visits to Indigenous sites may change at short notice, due to the cultural and ceremonial obligations of our Indigenous hosts and guide.
