Lake Hayes Hike
We start the morning with a leisurely cooked breakfast in house before we head just fifteen minutes out of Queenstown to beautiful Lake Hayes. The Lake Hayes trail offers exquisite mountain and lake vistas, a boardwalk protecting local wildlife, historic cottages and a close-up view of some of the area’s most beautiful homes. The trail is predominantly flat with just a few gentle elevations around the contours of a beautiful hill. This is not a technical trail and is home to many daily walkers and runners. We will then head back to the Sofitel for a shower and some free time before we meet in the Lobby for dinner at 6pm.

Days 3

Gibbston Valley Wine Tasting Tour
Our day will start with a guided fitness walk into Queenstown for those interested, then back for a hearty cooked breakfast. By 10am we will set out on our first wineries tour…If you like Pinot Noir and cool climate whites you will find it best in the Gibbston Valley. It’s only a small area to cover with just 12 vineyards and 20 minutes from one end of the valley to the other. With at least half of the wineries open to the public, this will make it a very manageable day trip for us to visit most or all of them… For our cheese lovers there is a spectacular cheesery in the region that is sure to compliment a day of beautiful wines.

Day 04

Roys Peak Track Hike

The Roys Peak track is an easy walking track showcasing Lake Wanake, Mount Aspiring/Tititea and the surrounding peaks after a moderate climb through alpine meadows and tussock grasslands to the summit. This is one of the most popular tracks in the area. We will stop at the gorgeous Cardrona Hotel located on the spectacular crown range road for a late lunch on our way back to Queenstown.
Hike Roys Peak Trail – 14km should take us 3-4 hours to complete.

Day 06

Ben Lomond Hike
Today is the hiking highlight, where we head to the top of Ben Lomond mountain, which towers over Queenstown. We’ll first take the gondola up to Bobs Peak to begin our hike, which steeply ascends up and up and up! The rewards are certainly worth the sweat though, because at the summit (1748m) you’ll feel on top of the world, with 360 degree views, and the potential for some snow and the odd cheeky alpine Kea hanging about. But remember, what goes up must come down, as we descend back down 1400m to Queenstown, so leave some energy in the tank for the way back!
