Overview

Annapurna base camp 14 Days trek probably the best legendary and classical base camp trekking in Nepal, appropriate for both experienced and first time trekkers. Annapurna Base camp trek is situated northern central part of Nepal and also inside the Annapurna conservation area at altitude of 4130 m on the lap of the world 10th Highest Mountain Annapurna I. Annapurna Base camp trek is one of the most frequent trekking trial in the Himalayas of Nepal which is surrounded by the majestic Himalayas including incredible massive range of Mt. Annapurna I II III and IV with Annapurna South, Huinchuli, Glacier Dome, Tent Peak, Singu Chuli, Vara Shikar (Annapurna Fang) Gangapurna and ever present majestic Mt. Machhapuchare ‘Fish Tail’ and many other peaks.

This marvelous journey to Annapurna Base Camp is a great combination of scenic and cultural walks visiting interesting traditional Gurung village of huge terraced farmed fields in the shade of Annapurna Himalayan range. Our 14 days Annapurna base camp trek itinerary starts from scenic drive or flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara and short drive to Nayapul. Upon arrival at starting point of the trek, we trek through Nayapul crossing through Briethanti village as well several valleys, rivers and forests. Then we climb up to small village named Ghandruk- the inhabitants of charming Gurung people and famous for culture and tradition in Nepal. Continuing our journey, we pass beautiful Chomrong village, where the cultural highlights are experienced, and further ascend through bamboo and Rhododendron forest. The treks continued all the way through the Jhinu Danda, Dovan, Machhapuchare Base Camp and finally arrive at an isolated valley of Annapurna base camp. From Annapurna base camp we can seek spectacular Mountain views of Annapurna Massif ranges as well superb views of Hiunchuli and Machhapuchhre. Finally, after getting the heavenly experience at ABC we back through the trial descend to Bamboo and Jhinu Danda. Continuing our trek, we trek through Landruk village, Pothana, Australian Camp and ends trek at Kande. Then we take short drive crossing through Nayapul to the picturesque Pokhara valley. Finally, our journey ends from scenic drive or flight back from Pokhara to capital city Kathmandu.

Detail itinerary for classical Annapurna Base Camp trek :

Day 01

Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.
At Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport on fresh arrival where you will be warmly received by Life Himalaya Trekking staff and then with transfer to your hotels in the hub of Kathmandu city, after refreshment our guide / leader will brief you on Annapurna Base Camp Trekking, includes other information related to this trip.

Day 02

In Kathmandu with sightseeing tour at places of interest.
A free day in Kathmandu after your long flight from home countries, morning tour of Kathmandu at places of interest around world heritage sites with time in the afternoon preparations for Annapurna base camp trek.

Day 03

Drive to Nayapul 1100 m – 08 hrs journey distance 220 k.m.
Morning starts with an overland drive on Nepal’s main busy and interesting highway towards picturesque Pokhara valley, drive leads through Himalayan foothills around towns and farm villages with wonderful country landscapes, after an exciting drive reaching at famous touristic Pokhara then we will drive about 1 hour to our trekking starting point Nayapul. After few minutes walk we will reach to Banthati.  overnight at Banthati.

Day 04

Trek to Ghandruk 1,730m.
After breakfast drive to our starting point of this wonderful trek at Nayapul and Bhirethati villages, by the river Modi as the first day walk leads through around farm villages, waterfalls then a climb for few hours to reach at Ghandruk village for overnight stop.
Ghandruk village of Gurung Hill tribe, famous as Gorkha soldiers in foreign countries of UK-Singapore-Brunei and India, besides being a soldiers there are farmers and cattle herders of Buddhist and Bon religion.

Day 05

Trek to Chomrong 1,951m – 06 hours.
From Ghandruk an hour uphill to reach a ridge at Kimrong and then downhill into cool forest of rhododendron and pines trees to Kimrong valley, after Kimrong valley climb for another hour all the way to the top of Chomrong village, a short downhill to reach our overnight stop at Chomrong village, this is the last permanent Gurung village and the gateway to Annapurna Sanctuary and Base Camp trekking.

Day 06

Trek to Dovan 2,130m via Bamboo 2,050m – 06 hours.
After Chomrong walk leads downhill over terraced farm fields to Chomrong river, after crossing the bridge an uphill for an hour to Sinuwa Danda a small place with few lodges offering great views of surrounding landscapes and rolling green hills, from here walk into cool dense forest till Bamboo is reached, located by the Modi River in the middle of bamboo, rhododendron and oaks forest. From here an hour walk with gradual up to Dovan for overnight stop, situated in the middle of forest and in a gorge of Modi River.

Day 07

Trek to Machhapuchare Base Camp 3,720m – 06 hrs.
From here on air gets cooler entering into Annapurna Sanctuary and Base Camp, walk leads with gradual up and winds to Himalaya Hotel near the Hinko Cave, beneath Huinchuli peak. From here walk over glacier and moraine formed by few years or recent avalanche, after crossing a small bridge reach at Deurali, the last lodge before Machhapuchare Base Camp.
After Deurali, tree lines fades with short alpine bushes our walk climbs following Modi river upstream to reach at Machhapuchare Base Camp for overnight stop.

Day 08

Trek to Annapurna Base Camp 4, 130m – 04 hours.
Morning with great views of Annapurna mountain range, from this lovely spot a short walk of few hours to reach our final destination at Annapurna base camp within beautiful Annapurna Sanctuary, walk leads to a short climb on grassy slopes towards a ridge then on near level ground to reach at Annapurna Base Camp, with ever present views of Annapurna peaks that encircles sanctuary with world tenth highest Annapurna I.

After a pleasant morning walk reaching at Annapurna Base Camp, a magnificent spot in the comfort of nice local lodge with fabulous views of high mountains that surrounds the sanctuary and the base camp.

The Annapurna sanctuary first explored by Col. James O.M. ‘Jimmy’ Roberts a British nationality in the year 1956 and then exposed to the world as the ‘Sanctuary of Gods’. The Sanctuary has been christened as “Annapurna Sanctuary” ever since.

Day 09

Trek to Bamboo 2,050 m – 06 hours.
After a wonderful time at Annapurna Base camp, morning walk leads downhill all the way to Deurali, then with few ups and downs then walking on gradual winding path reaching back into forested areas at Bamboo for overnight stop.

Day 10

Trek to Jhinu danda 1,700m via Chomrong 06 hours.
From Bamboo a short steep climb to Khuldi Ghar, then downhill through dense forest to Sinuwa danda, then downhill to Chomrong khola. After crossing bridge an uphill for less than an hour to reach at Chomrong village for a short break or with lunch stop, after Chomrong half hour climb at the top of Chomrong ridge, then descend to Jhinu danda for overnight stop, the place with refreshing hot springs just 20 minutes walk downhill by the Modi River.

Day 11

Trek to Pothana 1, 900 m – 05 hrs.

At Jhinu with great time, morning walk downhill for an hour to Modi River, after crossing the bridge with gradual walk and short climb to Landruk village, after a time here continue walk on the long winding trail through terraced farm fields and villages then reaching a small cool forested area, from here an uphill for 45 minutes to Pritim Deurali ridge at 2,150 m.

After Deurali a nice pleasant walk through forest with grand views of Mt. Annapurna,

Mt. Manaslu including Fish Tail, peaks as the walk leads to Pothana village for overnight stop.

Potana a nice scenic village located in the middle of forest with fabulous views of mountains and valley down below.

Day 12

Trek to Kande and drive to Pokhara.

Morning with super views, our last day walk of this great adventure leads to a short up into cool forest at Thulo Kharka (popularly known as Australian Camp). A wonderful place in the midst of a forest with large meadows with magnificent views of mountains after a short break an hour downhill to Kande village reaching a road head of Baglung-Pokhara highway, from here an hour drive brings you back at Pokhara with afternoon free at leisure.

Day 13

Drive  back to Kathmandu.

Morning a scenic overland drive back to Kathmandu with great experience and fond memories of  Annapurna base camp trekking, an exciting six hour drive brings you at Kathmandu with afternoon free for individual activities or at leisure.

Day 14

International departure homeward bound.

Last day in amazing Nepal and its massive Himalaya, after a memorable and fantastic adventure to Annapurna Base Camp trekking, Life Himalaya staff transfer you to Kathmandu international airport for your flight back home or to next respective countries.
